Kim Nam Gil is in talks to play Kim Hae Il again, the protagonist of “The Fiery Priest,” in the second season of the hit drama.
According to sources from the industry on November 29, Kim Nam Gil received an offer to continue his role as the hot-tempered Catholic priest Kim Hae Il in “The Fiery Priest 2.”
Kim Nam Gil’s agency Gilstory confirmed, “The actor is positively considering the offer to star in ‘The Fiery Priest 2.’”
“The Fiery Priest,” which aired in 2019, is a comedy-crime drama about a priest with anger issues and a timid detective who team up to solve a murder case.
The drama, which starred Kim Nam Gil, Honey Lee, and Kim Sung Kyun, achieved a high viewership rating of 22.0 percent. It also won eight awards at the 2019 SBS Drama Awards, including the Daesang (grand prize) for Kim Nam Gil, who received it for the first time in his career.
“The Fiery Priest 2” is said to have 12 episodes and is planning to start filming soon with the aim of airing next year.
