The popularity of MBC’s new drama “Knight Flower” is on the rise!

The show, which features Honey Lee and Lee Jong Won as the leads, peaked in ratings on January 26. Nielsen Korea reported that the 5th episode of the action-comedy drama recorded an average of 11.4 % nationwide, the highest ever for the show. Let's applaud the cast and crew of “Knight Flower” for their impressive achievement!

In the episode, Yeohwa went out to save the children trapped in Phil Yeogak's warehouse, and Suho, who witnessed this, confronted each other. Meanwhile, a shocking incident occurred when the Minister of Finance Yeom Heung-jip (aka a member of Hojo Panseo) died in the middle of the night. Suho, who went out to investigate the traces of Yeom Heung-jip's death, began to suspect the purple spots in his mouth and the sweet smell coming from his mouth. In the meantime, Yeom Heung-jip’s finger ring was found on Ho Pan’s food, which made the culprit's identity sound clear. And the case seemed to be easily solved.

Just so you know: 

• Hojo Panseo (호조판서) is a Korean term that refers to a high-ranking official in the Joseon dynasty who belonged to the Ministry of Finance (호조). 
• Ho Pan (호판) is a Korean term that means a nobleman or a gentleman. It is also a title given to the husband of a princess or a female member of the royal family.

However, the case began to fall into a maze when Yeohwa witnessed that Sujeol-gabu Baek, the daughter-in-law of Leejo Panseo (Choi Yoo-hwa) and Yongdeok (Lee Kang-min) were secretly meeting last night. Yeohwa was confused because she knew this fact but couldn't say it, and Yongdeok also insisted that he could never tell the truth about the ring even if he died to protect his lover, and he was in a difficult situation.

Just so you know: Leejo Panseo (이조판서) is a Korean term that refers to a high-ranking official in the Joseon dynasty who belonged to the Ministry of Personnel (이조). 

Yeohwa's father-in-law Seok Ji-seong (Kim Sang-joong) saw the contents of the autopsy report about the purple spots in the mouth of Ho Pan's corpse, and his expression hardened. He guessed that the spot was the key point of the case. Especially, Oh Nan-kyung (Seo Yi-sook), a servant of the Ho Pan, who witnessed Yeom Heung-jip falling down and pretended not to know, looked at the Sanjung Baekhodo and said, "It's been a long time since I used it again," and smiled meaningfully, causing chills.

The suspicion about the petals grew bigger and bigger. Suho learned that the petals that spilled out of the basket last time melted in water and that the smell from the mouth of the dead Ho Pan was the same. He wondered what the truth was hidden between the case and the petals.

At the end of episode 5, Yeohwa came back after seeing the night work. She happened to see Ji-seong going to the shrine, and Yeohwa had to quickly change her clothes to avoid revealing her identity, creating a tense situation. Yeohwa wondered if she could hide her identity and continue her double life until the end.

“Flex x Cop” episode 1 rating & recap

Meanwhile, SBS’s new drama “Flex x Cop” also had a strong debut last night, despite going head-to-head with “Knight Flower” in the same time slot. The new show, which stars Ahn Bo Hyun and Park Ji Hyun, outperformed its predecessor “My Demon” in ratings: “Flex x Cop” scored an average of 5.7% nationwide for its 1st episode. In comparison “My Demon” started with an average of 4.5%.

Episode 1 introduces Jin Lee-Soo, a wealthy and spoiled heir of a chaebol family, who accidentally runs into a killer and helps the police catch him by knocking him out with a brick. The killer had managed to evade the police trap but ran into Lee-Soo’s friend who was high on drugs. The killer tried to stab him, but Lee-Soo chased him down. Lee Gang-Hyun, a police officer who was about to give up, followed them and found Lee-Soo holding the brick over the unconscious killer.

Gang-Hyun arrested Lee-Soo as a suspect, thinking he was a drunk rich kid who went on a rampage. The police couldn’t find the knife that Lee-Soo claimed, so they locked him up for the night. To make matters worse, reporters saw him in jail and wrote a story overnight, humiliating his father, who was running for Seoul mayor.

Lee-Soo’s father and brother, Jin Sung-Joo, came to the police station; the father hit Lee-Soo and threatened to cut him off. Luckily, his brother Sung-Joo was supportive, stopping the situation from getting worse. 

After checking Lee-Soo’s record, Gang-Hyun went back to the scene and discovered the knife in a drain. The fingerprints on the unconscious killer confirmed he was the one the police had been hunting for 2 months.

The police bosses wanted to scapegoat Gang-Hyun, but Sung-Joo stepped in when he learned that Lee-Soo had a role in nabbing the killer. According to Sung-Joo’s plan, Lee-Soo had been a special legal recruit for the police for 2 months and had been working on the murder case. Under Sung-Joo’s influence, the police had to go along with this scheme. To everyone’s surprise, Lee-Soo showed up at the police station in a fancy car, walking on a red carpet to receive a bouquet from the chief, officially joining the frontline police team.

The 1st episode of “Flex x Cop” doesn’t reveal much else, except for a hint that Lee-Soo’s mother’s car crash mightn't have been an accident. Besides, Lee-Soo likes to pretend to be a cop, renting a whole mall for survival games, and celebrating with his friends at a club after winning, though he only drinks and stays away from drugs and women. He is addicted to coffee. As for Gang-Hyun, there is a mystery about her father, which might clear his name. 

“Flex x Cop” episode 2 will be broadcast at 9:50 p.m. on the 27th.
