"My Happy Ending" ep. 5 recap: Jang Nara warns of a fierce revenge against Ho-jun & Yi-hyun

In episode 5 of TV CHOSUN "My Happy Ending", Seo Jae-won (Jang Nara) launched a fierce revenge against her husband Heo Sun-young (Son Ho-jun) and her (fake) best friend Kwon Yoon-jin (So Yi-hyun) with sense of betrayal, while Yoon Tae-o (Lee Ki-taek) recalled the relationship with Jae-won 7 years ago and cleared her doubts.

Jae-won was convinced of Heo Sun-young and Kwon Yoon-jin's affair and pressured him to "clean up things with Kwon Yoon-jin", but Sun-young calmly answered "Why? Why do you have to do that?" like a stranger, making Seo Jae-won perplexed. 

Jae-won was choked up, "What are you so confident about? Shouldn't you apologize first?" Sun-young was calm and even told her that he had set up a household with Kwon Yoon-jin, making Seo Jae-won furious.

When Jae-won couldn't stand it anymore and told him to stop, Sun-young said "Let's divorce" as if he had been waiting, and to Jae-won, who said she had nothing but worked for her family, he said "For your family? You worked for yourself. You abandoned your parents and neglected your daughter and used your family as a stepping stone to get there." and poured out cruel sarcasm like a machine gun.

Jae-won, who seemed unconvinced, asked him "What is the real reason you're doing this to me?" and told him to tell her everything he had hidden. But Sun-young, who paused for a moment, said with a surge of emotion "I... love another woman!" and showed his shamelessness. Jae-won, who lost her mind, threw a glass and screamed, and Sun-young, who was injured by the glass shards, turned away from Seo Jae-won and left.

Then Jae-won said to the attending physician Jo Su-kyung (Lim Sun-woo), who advised her that "the relationship with Heo Sun-young is over", "I had no such feelings as understanding or forgiveness from the beginning. But he is Arin's father." and recalled the time when she was afraid of her mother who tried to harm herself when she was young. And when she saw her newborn baby, Jae-won, who was worried that she might become like her mother, told Sun-young that she was scared. Then Sun-young comforted her, saying "Don't worry. I'm here." And Jae-won, who saw Sun-young taking care of Heo Arin (Choi So-yul) affectionately, said "Arin has the only father in the world. I wanted to protect her. I thought I could protect her until the end." and felt empty.

After that, Jae-won consulted with a divorce lawyer, and the lawyer said that it wouldn't be very difficult to go to court, but the guilty spouse could also have custody rights because he has spent more time taking care of the daughter. Following the lawyer's advice to gather evidence that her husband had ruined his family, Jae-won searched Sun-young's study room and opened a video on his laptop that showed Sun-young and Kwon Yoon-jin making love on the bed, and was frozen in shock.

On the other hand, Sun-young handed over the divorce-related documents to his friend, a law professor, and asked him to review them, and emphasized that he only needed custody rights, not alimony or property division. Sun-young then hugged Yoon-jin tightly and reassured her not to worry, and Yoon-jin was overjoyed that the three of them had only left to live together.

Later, when Sun-young met Jae-won at home and asked her if she hadn't finished sorting out her thoughts, Jae-won remembered Sun-young and Yoon-jin's video and said "Don't touch me. I'm holding on with all my strength." and nailed that she couldn't give up Arin.

Meanwhile, it was revealed that Jae-won and Yoon Tae-o had a relationship 7 years ago. 7 years ago, at the launching event, Tae-o, who was a server, picked up the lithium medicine that Jae-won had dropped and helped her avoid the crisis. 

At that time, Jae-won, who was embarrassed by being caught by a stranger, was comforted by Tae-o, who said that it was like a cold that anyone could catch, and confessed that he had also taken the medicine.

 Jae-won, who remembered him at the same place as 7 years ago, asked Tae-o why he didn't say anything, and Tae-o said "I was curious about you and wanted to see you again." with a bright look. In another scene Tae-o took out Jae-won's middle school name tag 'Seo Yoon-jin' and smiled, hinting that he had a longer story. On the contrary, Jae-won, who didn't recognize Tae-o whom she had met 7 years ago, regretted the things she had doubted about Tae-o.

Above all, Jae-won was shocked to hear that Kwon Yoon-jin came to Arin's kindergarten and introduced herself as the person who would marry Sun-young. She muttered, 'Even if our relationship ends, I wanted to be a good parent to Arin...' and clenched her teeth and got up, showing her determination with a resolute expression.

On the day of Kwon Yoon-jin's work unveiling, Jae-won remembered Yoon-jin's words "Painting is everything to me" and threw a bundle of money at Yoon-jin, who became the protagonist of the unveiling, and said "I decided not to live being swayed and deceived anymore." and changed sharply, then without a moment's hesitation, he poured black paint on Yoon-jin's work and ruined it.

Also, Jae-won, who reported Sun-young to the police for design leakage, said "It's still far from what you guys did. It's just the beginning. Watch carefully what happens when you touch my daughter." and showed a "final warning ending" that would cause trouble, making the next episode curious.
