"My Happy Ending" ep.10 rating & recap: Soon-young really dead? Jae-won admitted to mental hospital

Jae-won said she wanted to see Arin and headed to Chang-seok's house in Tae-o's car. Tae-o is there for her and makes her feel cared for in all aspects~

“My Happy Ending” got an average nationwide rating of 2.7% on TV Chosun for episode 10. In the 10th episode, Seo Jae-won (Jang Na-ra) struggled to find the truth about the futile death of her husband Heo Soon-young (Son Ho-jun), while realizing that her friend and primary physician Jo Soo-kyung (Lim Sun-woo), who consulted everything, was an illusion and was appalled.

The death of Soon-young?

First, Jae-won collapsed in tears at the sight of Soon-young's body in the morgue, unable to believe her husband's death. She recalled the pesticide she bought to avenge Soon-young when the police questioned her about the pesticide related to Soon-young's poisoning. 

Lee Hyung-sa (Jung Jin-woo), who was interrogating him, dug up the reason for buying the pesticide, saying that he had secured a statement from Seo Chang-seok (Kim Hong-pa) that  Jae-won bought it herself, and even pulled out the fact that Jae-won's mother drank poison. But Jae-won didn't say a word. However, Jae-won asked the female police officer who brought her a meal, "Did he really die? Did my husband really die?" and shed tears in distress.

The confrontation with Yoon-jin

In the continued investigation, Jae-won, who poured out her inner thoughts and was anxious, surprised her lawyer (Ha Do-kwon) and Hyung-sa, and requested a meeting with Kwon Yoon-jin (So Yi-hyun).

Even though Yoon-jin was sitting, Seo Jae-won muttered to the wall alone and made her wonder. But Jae-won slapped his palm as Yoon-jin was about to leave and said with sharp eyes, "You're... Ami" and then said, "Why didn't I know? You were always by my side. You coveted and tried to take away my things. You were hovering around me and my family." 

Jae-won also threw a blunt question, "Did you kill Soon-young?" and then stabbed Yoon-jin's bluff, saying, "I remember everything." Yoon-jin said arrogantly, "Then you know. Soon-young and I are in love with each other." Seo Jae-won slapped him in anger, but Yoon-jin smiled leisurely and aroused resentment.

Eventually, Jae-won was released from the detention center due to insufficient evidence, but she was flustered by the flash baptism and questioning offensive of the waiting reporters. When she was caught in horror, Yoon Tae-o (Lee Ki-taek) appeared and put her in the car. 

Jae-won said she wanted to see Arin and headed to Seo Chang-seok's house in Tae-o's car. In the meantime, she shed tears from the memories of Soon-young. From the moment she touched Soon-young's corpse to the happy conversation at the playground, she remembered his last smile, and Jae-won hit her chest and cried out, "I killed him. I killed Soon-young."

Jae-won's disappearance and the sea

The next day, Jae-won disappeared and her father Chang-seok and Tae-o searched for her frantically. Tae-o learned that she headed to Samcheok. Jae-won looked at the sea and recalled the moment when she was young and dragged into the sea by her mother. That time, she witnessed her mother putting sleeping pills in strawberry milk. 

And Jae-won asked herself, "Mom, is this really a happy ending?" and said with empty eyes, "Mom, I'm not running away." She went into the sea. Just then, Tae-o ran and grabbed her. Jae-won said nothing.

Yoon-jin with Tae-o in hard times?

On the other hand, as Dereve management faced a crisis due to Jae-won, executives including Kwon Young-ik (Kim Myung-soo) held a shareholders' meeting to dismiss Jae-won. On the day of the shareholders' meeting, Tae-o, who met Yoon-jin as she came as a Dereve shareholder, said, "Are you happy to kill the man you loved, frame your friend, and now take over her company?" 

Yoon-jin said, "Very happy. I can see Seo Jae-won being kicked out of Dereve," Tae-o scolded, "You're not ruined because of Seo Jae-won, but because of yourself." But she said, "Why did it have to be Seo Jae-won? When you were lost and struggling, the one who was by your side was me."

The "voluntary admission to a mental hospital ending"

Jae-won, who was anxious and nervous because of the shareholders' meeting, called Jo Soo-kyung, a friend and primary physician, and apologized, saying, "I'm sorry for asking you too much." At the same time, Tae-o went to see Jo Soo-kyung and said, "I heard you are the primary physician and friend of Jae-won." But Soo-kyung told, "I don't have any personal relationship with Seo Jae-won. I've never met him." 

Jae-won, who received Tae-o's phone call, was confused and remembered the countless hours she had consulted with Soo-kyung, and the figure of Soo-kyung who was next to her disappeared. Jae-won realized that Soo-kyung was an illusion and was horrified. 

In the last scene, Jae-won walked into the closed ward corridor of the mental hospital with the nurse, shaking her eyes with unfamiliar and fearful feelings, and showed her determined will, saying, "I'm different from my mother. I'll never end like this." The "voluntary admission to a mental hospital ending" drew attention to Jae-won's future moves.
