"My Happy Ending" Ep.2 Recap: Jang Na-ra Discovers the Harsh Truth + Furious Outburst Ending

The 2nd episode of TV CHOSUN's weekend miniseries 'My Happy Ending' (written by Baek Sun-hee, directed by Cho So-won) aired on Sunday, March 31st. It achieved a nationwide rating of 2.3% and a peak viewership rate of 2.6% per minute, according to Nielsen Korea.

In the episode, Seo Jae-won (played by Jang Na-ra) was shocked by the secrets that her husband Heo Soon-young (played by Son Ho-joon), her friend Kwon Yun-jin (played by So Yi-hyun), her colleague Yoon Teo (played by Lee Ki-taek), and her stepfather Seo Chang-seok (played by Kim Hong-pa) had been hiding from her, and she was filled with intense doubt and anxiety. Seo Jae-won, who fell into the river and lost consciousness due to the threat of a stalker, woke up with a nightmare about the trauma she suffered as a child, which made her feel sad.

Jae-won, who tried to work hard despite her injuries, reacted sharply and sensitively to her suspicious husband, Heo Soon-young, Kwon Yun-jin, Yoon Teo, and stepfather Seo Chang-seok. When Soon-young touched her shoulder as if he was concerned about  Jae-won, who was getting ready to go to work, Jae-won snapped at him and said, "It's okay. How many times do you have to tell me?", and to Yun-jin, who approached her warmly, she said with a cold expression, "It was tough. Very tough." Moreover, while Jae-won was talking to Chang-seok on the phone, she flushed the bear soup he had carefully prepared down the toilet. Also, when Yoon Teo, who claimed to be a stalker, asked for a chance to clear up the misunderstanding, Jae-won bluntly rejected him, saying, "I don't need your explanation."

Jae-won met Nam Tae-joo (played by Park Ho-san) and surprised him by telling him that she had found out that Tae-joo was a former gangster detective, that he was investigated for bribery, retired, and was unexpectedly cleared of charges. "Investigate how my mother died. But not for the insurance company, but for me."

However, after that, Jae-won received an explanation from Soon-young and Yoon Teo, and the misunderstanding seemed resolved. She asked Soon-young, "Why did you do that to me?" When Soon-young explained what had happened to Jae-won, who was angry, she noticed Soon-young, who had a completely different style when meeting Yun-jin and crossed his arms and said, "Could it be... Your brother?", referring to Heo Soon-young's twin brother. At this moment, Heo Soon-young exclaimed, "Brother? Why hyung?" and his surprised expression increased her suspicions. 

Soon-young hugged Seo Jae-won warmly and said, "I was so careless. I'll do better from now on," and comforted her. Also, Jae-won was troubled when she heard from her secretary that Yoon Teo was at the club when she fell into the Han River. Furthermore, remembering Yoon Teo's statement that the stalking started 7 years ago and that Yoon Teo came to Korea for the 1st time 4 years ago, Jae-won admitted to Yoon Teo that she had suspected him of being a stalker and apologized.

Still, Jae-won, who was confused, confided in her friend, Jo So-kyung (played by Lim Sun-woo), who asked, "Are you scared of facing reality? It's not the first time. The person you trusted the most was you..." In response, Jae-won recalled her mother taking her into the sea when she was a child, and said, "I thought I was finally happy. Why me again? I'm scared. I'm scared everything will fall apart," and looked sad and hurt.

In particular, Jae-won was touched by Seo Chang-seok's kindness in bringing her side dishes even in the heavy rain without an umbrella. She decided to give Heo Soon-young, Yoon Teo, and Seo Chang-seok another chance. But then she learned from Nam Tae-joo that Yoon Teo had visited Korea not only 4 years ago, but also 7 years ago. She was shocked and tried to find Heo Soon-young, who was unreachable. She got angry when he found out that her daughter Heo Arin (Choi Choi-yul) was with a woman. She went to Kwon Yun-jin's office and knocked on the door loudly. She confronted Heo Soon-young who came back home and asked, "Do you really not know why I'm doing this?" She left in a rage.

Seo Jae-won then crashed the alumni reunion of the art college that Yun-jin went to. She exposed the failed marriage that Yun-jin was ashamed of. She hurt and upset her. The next day, she discovered that the house owned by Chang-seok was rented to Yun-jin. She rushed to his home and saw Yun-jin entering the door with a shopping cart. She was about to approach her, but then she saw Heo Soon-young and Arin getting out of a taxi. She was so stunned that she couldn't breathe. She imagined the 3 of them being happy together. She nearly hit a pedestrian with her car. Jae-won felt betrayed and yelled "evil". She ended with a "roar of anger", hinting at more chaos to come.
