[Feb 3] “Knight Flower” Ep.8, “Flex x Cop” Ep.4: Rating & Recap

The AFC Asian Cup didn't deter many viewers from tuning in to their favorite weekend dramas last night!

“Knight Flower” episode 8 rating & recap

MBC’s popular drama “Knight Flower” kept its top spot in its time slot, reaching its highest Saturday ratings ever with an average of 12.6% nationwide, as reported by Nielsen Korea.

Geum-ok's fury & Yeo-hwa's trick

In episode 8, Yoo Geum-ok (played by Kim Mi-kyung) was furious when she found Park Su-ho (played by Lee Jong-won)'s fan at the shrine. And Yeo-hwa pretended not to know and lay flat. 

As the situation got worse, Yeon-seon (played by Park Se-hyun) came into the shrine and said it was hers that she had hidden, and avoided the crisis. The sight of Yeo-hwa and Yeon-seon looking around and playing tricks made us laugh.

Nan-kyung's revelation & Ji-seong’s threat

Meanwhile, Oh Nan-kyung (played by Seo Yi-sook) deliberately leaked some facts related to O-ra-bi to Seok Ji-seong. On the day that Seon-wang died, some of the gold soldiers disappeared, and among them, the one who received the secret order from Seon-wang was Yeo-hwa’s O-ra-bi.

Yeo-hwa was shocked by Nan-kyung’s words that Ji-seong also knew the situation at that time. Ji-seong’s movement became more intense. Ji-seong told Yeo-hwa not to get close to Nan-kyung when he found out that Nan-kyung had spilled the beans to Yeo-hwa. He also predicted that there would be a serious development in the future as it was revealed that Ji-seong had ordered the death of Yeo-hwa’s O-ra-bi, Jo Seong-hoo.

Seok Jeong’s close encounters & sad past

On the other hand, Seok Jeong (played by Oh Eui-sik), who hadn't revealed his existence yet, made us nervous as he passed by his family members one after another. Seok Jeong, who was buying a magnifying glass, ran away when he met Geum-ok nearby. And in the middle of running away, he met Bong Mal-deok (played by Nam Mi-jeong) again and caused a commotion. 

Also, at Myeong-do-gak, Seok Jeong bumped into Yeo-hwa without knowing that she was his wife. The reason why Seok Jeong had to leave the house was also revealed, adding to the sadness.

Su-ho’s identity & Yeo-hwa’s rescue

Su-ho, who was attacked by Kang Pil-jik (played by Jo Jae-yoon) and his men, was confused when Pil-jik pointed a white sword at him and remembered the past. Pil-jik then lifted Su-ho’s clothes and confirmed the sword mark on his back, and recognized him as Lim Gang’s son. Just as he was about to strike him with his sword, Yeo-hwa appeared and the situation was resolved.

Yoon-hak’s trap & Su-ho’s appearance

At the end of episode 8, Yeo-hwa went to the place where Park Yoon-hak (played by Lee Ki-woo) called her after seeing a note saying that he would tell her about O-ra-bi. Yoon-hak started talking to Hwal-yoo (played by Lee Woo-je), who was disguised as Yeo-hwa, with his feet in between.

When he tried to lift his feet without answering the question, Yeo-hwa appeared and pointed a sword at him. The situation escalated to the extreme, and Su-ho also appeared, and the two were surprised by the unexpected encounter, raising the anticipation for the next episode.

The viewers showed hot reactions such as “I love Lee Ha-nee’s innocent eyes when she acts”, “Yeo-hwa and Yeon-seon are both storytelling masters”, “The balance is amazing as it goes back and forth between comedy, serious, and romance”, “Seok Jeong is so funny whenever he appears, it’s like a sitcom”, “I’m thrilled when Su-ho touches Yeo-hwa’s hair”, “Look at the eyes of the left upper corner”, “This is the ending paradise”.

“Flex x Cop” episode 4 rating & recap

SBS’s new drama “Flex x Cop,” which competes with “Knight Flower” in the same time slot, stayed steady with an average of 6.3% nationwide for its 4th episode.

The crime scene

In episode 4, Gang-hyun shows up at the crime scene and tells Kyung-jin to send away all the visitors after getting their phone numbers. I-soo is puzzled by her decision as it's a locked room case, but she reveals that Noh has been dead for almost 10 hours, making him feel stupid. 

They then question Noh’s junior assistant Kwon Do-jun and find out his alibi for the night of the murder. I-soo is convinced that Do-jun is the killer, but he changes his mind when the gallery’s director shows up.

The gallery director

He observes that the gallery director isn't very concerned about Noh’s death, but rather thinks that the incident has boosted the popularity of her gallery. They also learn from her that a mysterious woman had come before and thrown red paint on Noh’s two paintings. 

The wife & the boyfriend

After this meeting, Gang-hyun and I-soo go to Mr. Noh’s wife to inform her of her husband’s death. However, she responds indifferently and says that she was with her boyfriend the previous night and had no reason to kill her husband since she didn’t care about him.

With 4 suspects in the picture, they decide to solve the case quickly before the killer escapes. The autopsy report says that the killer stabbed Noh twice from behind and killed him with a final stab in the front. The doctor says that the killer was hesitant in the first 2 stabs. 

After getting the autopsy reports, Jun-young begins to tail Jin-kyu, the boyfriend of Noh’s wife. He discovers that Jin-kyu has another younger girlfriend and that they plan to start a business together. The cops note that Jin-kyu had asked Noh’s wife for 2 billion, which is the same as Noh’s insurance value.

The mysterious woman

Meanwhile, Gang-hyun and I-soo find out about the mysterious woman and visit her at the sauna where she works. They hear from her that Noh had taken her daughter’s work and that’s why she wanted to ruin it. The daughter died after Noh sued her for plagiarism, even though the real artist was the young girl. She claims that she was working at the sauna on the night of the murder and didn’t kill Noh.

The twist

I-soo purchases the artwork with the red paint on it and brings it to his new home. His old home is across from Gang-hyun’s home. We also learn from a conversation between them that I-soo used to live in the house with his mother and after she died in a car accident, he found out that he's one of the heirs of Hansu Group.

While hanging the artwork at his home, I-soo notices a piece from it that’s fallen off. Upon inspecting the painting, he realizes that under the fixed piece, Do-jun’s signature was there. At the same time, Gang-hyun finds out that Dojun had plans to study abroad but they were cancelled due to plagiarism.

Similarly, Kyungjin learns that the scarf of a woman that they saw on the CCTV camera was bought by Dojun. When I-soo visits Dojun’s place and hints at what he discovered, he gets attacked by Dojun from behind and falls to the floor.
