Interrogation & revelations

I-soo takes Seung-ju into custody and questions him, while Joon-young and Kang-hyun question Hyeonbae. The woman found in the car trunk, Ms. Miyeon, is taken to the hospital to wake up. Seung-ju doesn’t share any information with I-soo during questioning. Hyeonbae is smug because they haven’t found any murder weapon or strong proof against him.

When Seung-ju’s lawyers come, the senior officer and Kang-hyun talk to Seung-ju. He then tells them how he met Daehoon at a party and how Daehoon began to threaten his mother, Heeja. Seung-ju explains that Daehoon blackmailed his mother for a lot of money because he had evidence of her past affair. This surprises I-soo. Seung-ju insists he had nothing to do with the murder and didn’t plan it. After being listed as a witness, not a suspect, Seung-ju is let go.

Unraveling the conspiracy

Hyeonbae’s lawyer shows up, and they talk. Shocked by what he learns, I-soo decides to uncover the real story to protect his family’s good name. Joon-young talks to Miyeon, who admits she introduced Heeja to her boyfriend. She also says she met Hyeonbae and asked him to scare Daehoon, but they got greedy and killed him to extort more money from Heeja.

Joon-young finds out the real murderer isn’t Hyeonbae but his younger brother, Hyeontae. But Hyeontae has run away to the Philippines, making it tough for the police to catch him. Hyeonbae admits he’s the killer and hands over the murder weapon. The case is closed, but the police aren't happy because they know another killer is free, and the person who told them to kill Daehoon is still unknown.

Seung-ju visits his shocked mother in the hospital. He confronts her, revealing he knows Daehoon’s identity and that she ordered the hit. It turns out Daehoon is Seung-ju’s real dad, and to make her son the head of Hansu Group, she had men kill Daehoon. Daehoon was just using his DNA test to get money from Heeja.

I-soo also discovers this truth from Daehoon’s old photos of Seung-ju. I-soo meets Heeja in the hospital and says he’ll arrest her, but she pleads with him to think of Seung-ju. Knowing about Daehoon and his connection to Seung-ju, I-soo’s dad calls a press conference and says he’s quitting the race for mayor.

I-soo hands in his resignation to Kang-hyun because he can’t dishonor his family. At home, he sees a broken stair and remembers his childhood. He recalls hiding a sleeping pill from his mother and wonders how she died from an overdose. I-soo senses something’s off and goes to question his dad at his guesthouse.

There, he asks his dad about his mom’s death and why his memory was erased. The scene shifts to I-soo leaving, and his dad passes away in his chair.

Review

So, the main bad guy is Heeja. She’s the one who killed I-soo’s mom to live richly and make her son the boss of Hansu Group. We’ll learn more about these facts in the final episodes. Soon, we’ll also see Seung-ju’s true nature. Will he protect his mom, or will he realize she should pay for what she’s done?

“Flex x Cop” is great, but I hope the final 2 episodes wrap up the story well without hurrying and breaking any hearts, including ours (the viewers). The various crime cases have set up the main plot nicely. If the ending is too quick and simple, it might ruin the show’s good name.
