“Beauty and Mr. Romantic” Ep 5-6: Ratings, Recap, Review

KBS 2TV’s “Beauty and Mr. Romantic” maintained a strong performance, with a 15% rating for its 5th episode. It got a 16% rating for episode 6.

“Beauty and Mr. Romantic” ep 5-6: Recap, review

Do Ra’s brother, Do Shik, asked his girlfriend to marry him, but she said no. Feeling sad, he went to the river to get some air and tried to throw away the ring he bought. But the ring landed near Myung Dong, who was there drinking alone. They met, became friends, and she ended up with the ring on her finger. The next day, Do Shik asked for the ring back, but Myung Dong was upset because she thought they were going to get married.

On the other hand, Mi Ja, who likes to gamble, owes money and can’t pay it back. She’s been hiding this from Do Ra, who works hard for the family. Mi Ja even tried to get some of Do Ra’s money without him knowing.

Do Ra keeps thinking about Director Go because he looks like her old crush, Go Dae Chung. She asks him about it, but he gets nervous and lies, saying he doesn’t know Go Dae Chung. Do Ra tells him that Go Dae Chung liked her, which confuses him because it was the other way around :).

They start filming their show, and Director Go helps Do Ra do a dangerous scene as her stunt double couldn't come for some reason.

Meanwhile, Geum Ja needs money for her son and remembers Mi Ja owes her. Since Do Ra is now famous and rich, Geum Ja makes Mi Ja pay back the money with extra, which ends up being 50,000 dollars. Geum Ja gets the money and gives it to her son.

Do Ra had a problem with another actor because of his girlfriend, and they didn’t get along. This made filming hard. Pil Seung was nice to Do Ra and tried to help her. But he also talked to the other actor about Do Ra, trying to fix things. When Do Ra found out, she felt betrayed by Pil Seung.

Review

I get that Pil Seung wants to be friendly with everyone to keep things smooth at work, but I wish he’d just let the other actor talk it out instead of joining in on talking behind her back. She’s been good to him and was even starting to like him. She thought he was on her side, and now she’s going to feel let down.

As for Im Soo-hyang and Ji Hyun Woo, they look great together. I personally think he looks great, especially with curly hair, so I don’t understand why some people would criticize his looks. But as they say, beauty is subjective~

Regarding the other characters, I’m not too interested in them. Also, they might be important for the story, but I’m not a fan of the family scenes. I know that’s just how it goes with weekend or family dramas. That said, I do like "Once Again" and "What Happened to My Family?."
