"6/45" Korean Movie Review: I Almost Chucked Watching It

Edit Posted by with No comments

If you are looking for a movie that will make you laugh out loud and also touch your heart, you should watch 6/45. This is a comedy film about a South Korean sergeant who crosses the DMZ to retrieve his winning lottery ticket from a North Korean soldier who claims it as his own.

The plot

Cheon-Woo (Ko Gyung-Pyo) is a South Korean soldier who works near the border with North Korea. He is overjoyed when he discovers that he has won the lottery with a ticket worth 5.7 billion won. But his happiness is short-lived when his ticket falls into North Korea by mistake. He decides to sneak into the enemy territory at night to get it back. There, he meets Yong-Ho (Lee Yi-Kyung), a North Korean soldier who also wants the ticket. Yong-Ho says that the ticket belongs to him now and refuses to give it to Cheon-Woo.

The cast

The movie features a talented cast of actors who deliver excellent performances. The chemistry between the actors is amazing, and they create many hilarious moments with their dialogues and expressions.

I especially liked Kwak Dong-Yeon here. He can do any role, but he has a gift for comedy and a face that looks innocent. As Man Cheol, the “corporal pervert”, he made me laugh so hard. I just watched Gaus Electronics (a brilliant drama starring Dong-Yeon too)) and this was a great follow-up.

Man Cheol, the “corporal pervert”, cracked me up so much 😂

My take

6/45 will make you laugh from start to finish. It isn't a typical South-North Korean movie that focuses on politics or action. It is a light-hearted comedy that shows the human side of both countries. It also has some heartwarming scenes that show the bond between the characters and their hopes for a better future.

The movie is well-written and well-directed, with a fast-paced and engaging plot. It also has some clever twists and surprises that keep you entertained. The movie doesn't shy away from making fun of both sides, but it doesn't offend or insult anyone.

Shoe polishing has never been so dramatic as this 🤣🤣🤣

Overall, you shouldn't miss it if you want to have a good time, relax, and heal. It was “Welcome to Waikiki” level funny.
