“Flex x Cop” episode 15: Recap & review

[Mar 22] “Flex x Cop” Ep 15: Rating, Recap, Review

In the 15th episode, the intense development unfolded as Kang Ha-Seo’s powerful Team 1, Jin Isu (Ahn Bohyun), Lee Kanghyun (Park Ji Hyun), Park Junyoung (Kang Sang Jun), and Choi Kyungjin (Kim Shin Bi) investigated the death of Isu’s mom, which occurred 25 years apart.

Isu, unaware of his father Myungchul’s (Jang Hyun Sung) death, returned to Kang Ha-Seo to check the records of his mother Sunyoung’s (Lee Si A) suicide case 25 years ago. Isu regained his forgotten childhood memories with Kanghyun’s help and discovered that his mother, who died from an overdose of sleeping pills, didn't have any at the time, and someone had visited their house that day, pleading with Kanghyun to uncover the truth together.

The news of Myungchul being found dead at his villa turned the world upside down. The sleeping pills detected in the alcohol bottle Myungchul drank led to the assumption of suicide, and Isu, who had left the villa after harsh words with Myungchul, was consumed with guilt and sorrow. After a mournful funeral, Isu, back at the family home, finally realized how much Myungchul loved him and his mother, shedding tears of regret that touched our hearts.

Suspicious circumstances surrounding Myungchul’s death began to emerge. Kanghyun sensed it was no coincidence that Myungchul died from an overdose of sleeping pills, just like Sunyoung did 25 years ago. Kanghyun learned from forensic scientist Dr. Yoon (Jung Ga Hee) that there were no sleeping pills found around Myungchul’s body. Moreover, after revisiting Sunyoung’s case records from 25 years ago in an old archive, Kanghyun confirmed that there were no sleeping pills found around her body either, leading her to suspect that someone had intentionally poisoned both with sleeping pills.

Isu also didn't believe Myungchul committed suicide. Summoning Kanghyun, Isu was convinced of foul play, asserting that Myungchul, who had tried to pour him a drink at the villa, wouldn't have given him alcohol laced with sleeping pills. However, the circumstantial evidence was full of holes.

Understanding Isu’s desperate feelings, Kanghyun advised him to focus on recalling the person who visited their home 25 years ago and reassured him that his resignation hadn't been accepted, urging him to return to Team 1.

Meanwhile, the Han Soo Group’s board showed movements to appoint Seungju (Kwak Si Yang) as the chairman. However, Director Choi (Kim Myung Soo), who knew everything about the Han Soo family, couldn't hide his uneasy feelings. Upon receiving a call from Kanghyun, Director Choi testified that Myungchul never took sleeping pills, and it was Heeja who had been taking them regularly.

Team 1, searching around Myungchul’s villa, speculated that the culprit was someone familiar with the interior of the villa. They began to seriously consider murder as the cause of both Sunyoung and Myungchul’s deaths, with Heeja and Seungju emerging as suspects.

At the same time, Isu, under hypnosis, remembered that Heeja was the person who visited their home 25 years ago. And upon returning to Team 1, he revealed this fact, making Heeja a prime suspect in Sunyoung’s murder.

Kanghyun proposed 2 possibilities:

  • one scenario was that Heeja committed the crime 25 years ago and Seungju the recent one;
  • the other was that Heeja was responsible for both.

Later, CCTV footage from around Myungchul’s residence showed a car leaving late at night on the day of the incident, but the driver couldn't be identified. And the car’s black box footage was sought after by Director Choi, only to find that the memory card had already been disposed of by someone.

As Kanghyun targeted Heeja and Seungju in the investigation, Isu, convinced of Heeja’s guilt, confronted Seungju with a declaration of war. Seungju told Isu that he seemed to be about to become the chairman and asked for his help at the company, but Isu, investigating his mother’s case, revealed that Heeja had visited his mother 25 years ago. He then told Seungju, “Whatever happens from now on, I have no choice but to do it,” showing his strong determination to investigate.

However, contrary to Isu’s trust in Seungju, Seungju was revealed to be a horrific murderer, causing chills. On the night of Myungchul’s death, Heeja witnessed Seungju taking her sleeping pills and leaving the house. While Heeja begged Seungju, asking if he had met the father and pleading, “Please say it’s not true,” Seungju calmly replied, “It’s what mom wanted. You always said to get Han Soo Group by any means necessary.” Then, Seungju chillingly told Heeja, “It’s all done now. So from now on, you know nothing. Just keep living as you are, drinking.” This plunged Heeja into extreme fear.

At the end of episode 15, the inauguration ceremony for the new chairman of Han Soo Group took place. As Isu watched, Seungju ascended the stage, leaving us in shock.

With this, the final investigation by Ahn Bohyun, who believed he had only one ally, his brother, and is now facing the endgame, draws intense interest in the final episode of “Flex x Cop.”
