Kim Nam-joo discovered the affair between Kim Kang-woo and Lim Se-mi, and Cha Eun-woo watched this unfold with a pleased smile.
"I won’t allow him to mess with my family over his anger towards me”
In the episode, Soo-hyun (played by Kim Nam-joo) was shocked to learn that Soo-ho’s (played by Kim Kang-woo) affair partner was Yuri (played by Lim Se-mi). It was revealed that all of this was orchestrated by Seon-yul (played by Cha Eun-woo) to destroy Soo-hyun’s happiness.
Realizing that Seon-yul was the son of Kwon Ji-woong (played by Oh Man-seok), Soo-hyun warned him during a private meeting, recalling his past promise to let her meet Ji-woong’s son, “Tell him this. If he wants to torment me, that’s fine. But leave my family out of it.” Seon-yul provocatively replied, “That person also lost his father,” to which Soo-hyun retorted, “I lost my child. A mother who has unjustly lost her child will do anything,” continuing the tense standoff.
Do you know when human feel the most pain? To see your family be ruined in front of your own eyes. Like me right now. (Seon-yul)
Returning to the junkyard, Seon-yul unleashed his anger through boxing, vowing, “I’ll go to the end. Whether it’s the end for that woman or for me,” revealing a venomous look.
The episode also revealed Seon-yul’s meticulous plans to ruin Soo-hyun, waiting for “the moment she tries to be happy again” and capturing Soo-ho’s affair in photos. Seon-yul was also the one pressuring Soo-hyun and her mother Go Eun (played by Won Mi-kyung) with these photos, sending chills down the spine as his schemes were unveiled.
Soo-hyun sought out psychology professor Shi-ra (played by Jeon Hyun-ah) to ask why she deliberately switched victim information. And after re-requesting the information on the pension arson case, she finally met the actual victim, Min-hyuk (played by Jin Gun-woo).
However, Min-hyuk expressed his resentment, shouting, “You didn’t come here to ask for forgiveness, did you? Why dig up the past? Why prevent me from even resenting?” Soo-hyun empathized, “I’ve been through what you have. I lost my son unjustly, sought revenge, and even threw away my life. But I chose to live properly. You should choose too. Whether to continue living like this or to live properly for your parents’ sake.”
Seon-yul met with Hye-geum (played by Cha Soo-yeon) for work on behalf of Kim Joon (played by Park Hyuk-kwon) and received artwork. Yet, he discovered a cunningly hidden USB inside the packaged artwork and passed it to Soo-jin (played by Yang Hye-ji) for copying, revealing his meticulousness and raising questions about his intentions.
Later, when Kim Joon asked Seon-yul about the gift sent to Soo-ho, Seon-yul admitted his actions and confidently declared, “I will ensure that Kang Soo-ho doesn't hinder your path to the Blue House, Congressman,” signaling the start of his revenge.
At the end of “Wonderful World” episode 8, Soo-hyun, searching for a traffic accident video in a black box requested by a stranger, realized the video was missing. She then remembered that the man who asked her to check the black box was Yong-gu (played by Kim Woo-hyun), Seon-yul’s colleague from the junkyard. And the postcard he gave her depicted Francesca and Paolo, 2 lovers betrayed by those they loved. Just then, another video inside the black box caught her attention.
At that moment, Yuri’s biological mother, who had been abusive to Yuri since she was young, caused a scene at the editing shop, grabbing Yuri’s hair and shouting, “Ungrateful for being raised, how dare you to your mother,” shocking everyone. As Soo-hyun hurriedly tried to go there amidst the chaos, she paused upon realizing that the video in the black box showed her husband Soo-ho and Yuri, who was like a sister to her.
In the video, Soo-ho angrily asked Yuri, “Should I say that the woman in the photo is you? Is that what you want?” revealing that Yuri was the other party in the affair. Soo-hyun began to sob, covering her mouth in betrayal by Soo-ho and the sister-like Yuri.
However, as the camera moved outside the chaotic editing shop, Seon-yul was seen plugging in earphones and smiling leisurely, causing chills. It was all part of Seon-yul’s plan to bring Yuri’s mother to the shop and show Soo-hyun the video of Soo-ho’s mistress, Yuri. Seon-yul chillingly said, “Eun Soo-hyun, watch in agony,” raising anticipation for his future actions.
Review
I'm going to go all the way. until I reach her end… or mine. (Seon-yul)
The reason behind Seon-yul’s actions is that he once had a happy family, but it was all taken away in one night. It’s heartbreaking, and you can’t fault him for the pain and suffering he’s endured. It’s not just about his father. His mother also suffered from losing her husband and now she’s in a coma. This has pushed him over the edge because he used to live a normal life as a medical student. After what happened to his mom, he’s completely changed and has devoted his life to getting revenge.
Moreover, it seems like the protagonist’s friend/sister accidentally left the door open because she was secretly seeing the protagonist’s husband. When her child got sick and she had to rush home, she hid, planning to leave when the wife came in. But she was in such a hurry that she didn’t close the door right.
Further, the person who really caused Gunwoo’s death might be the politician. Seon-yul’s dad was just blamed for it. Why? The politician is trying to get Seon-yul to return to medical school instead of seeking revenge. I think he’s worried Seon-yul will discover the truth.
