It’s really tough to see our loved ones get sick and change into someone we can’t recognize. It’s a sad thing that the show “Queen of Tears” shows really well in episodes 7 and 8.
The story picks up with Hong Hae-In feeling hurt by Baek Hyeon-Woo’s wish for a divorce. She feels like he’s been lying to her. Even when she wants him to explain, she can’t really hear him. To her, he’s just betrayed her. This feeling is strong in episode 7.
Hyeon-Woo tries to make things better, but Hae-In is losing hope. They try a medical treatment again, but it’s not working. The doctor says patients need hope to keep going. Hyeon-Woo tries to give Hae-In this hope. After she stops her treatment and plans to go back to Korea, he notices she’s different. Even when he saves her from danger, she asks him to stop helping her.
Then, Hyeon-Woo gets really upset and says a lot of harsh things to her. But Hae-In has heard similar things from her family for years. Hyeon-Woo’s harsh words make her angry, and this anger gives her the strength to keep going. When she gets back to Korea, she’s determined to make Hyeon-Woo’s life difficult.
Hae-In comes back to work dressed boldly, ready to ruin Hyeon-Woo’s life. She tells her family to stay out of it. She starts looking into everything Hyeon-Woo has done and finds out he’s actually been really kind to people at work. This surprises her, but also frustrates her. She wants to find something bad, but instead, she finds good things.
Hae-In gets really upset with Yoon Eun-Sung at dinner. He wants her to divorce Hyeon-Woo, but this makes her angry, and she leaves. She’s frustrated by everything, but she tries to deal with it. Episode 7 ends very sadly.
Hyeon-Woo sees Hae-In caring for a cat in the rain. She’s happy and hopeful, but then she talks about the treatment in Germany and doesn’t remember their trip. This makes Hyeon-Woo cry.
In episode 8 of “Queen of Tears,” the story takes a slight turn. Eun-Sung and others keep working on their secret plan. We also get to see more about Eun-Sung and Seul-Hee’s clever moves. They’ve been planning for a long time and have managed to push Hyeon-Woo and Hong Beom-Ja out of Queens Group. Seul-Hee has been really smart about it, especially with Chairman Hong Man-Dae. She’s slowly turned him against his own daughter, and everything comes to a head.
The sad part of the story moves from Hae-In to Man-Dae and Soo-Cheul. We’ve seen hints that Da-Hye might leave Soo-Cheul, and she feels guilty about it. Soo-Cheul is a good dad and husband but he’s been tricked a lot. The actor shows us how Soo-Cheul has been fooled by his family, who have made him too protected and set him up to fail. His wish to be seen as smart leads to Eun-Sung’s plans working out.
It’s strange that Da-Hye isn’t there during Soo-Cheul’s big moment at Man-Dae’s party. Soo-Cheul looks for her and finds a note that makes him panic. He tries to find her, and it’s really sad because she’s the only one besides his mom who has supported him.
For Man-Dae, we’ve seen him give more control to Seul-Hee since the show started. In Episode 8, he makes a big mistake by trusting her too much. He gets a call from Beum-Ja but ignores it, only answering when Hyeol-Woo calls. Hyeol-Woo tells him a big secret about Seul-Hee and Eun-Sung. But it’s too late, and Man-Dae realizes he’s been tricked. Seul-Hee looks really pleased with herself.
Seul-Hee and Eun-Sung quickly take over and the Queens family loses everything. The episode almost ends with us wondering where they are. Hyeon-Woo takes them to his small hometown to hide. We don’t know if they’ll be able to live in a simpler place.
Episodes 7 and 8 of “Queen of Tears” show betrayal and sadness in different ways. They also show how different Hae-In is from her family. Being alone has somehow protected her. But Hyeon-Woo wanting a divorce really hurts her because she believes in true love. Soo-Cheul and Man-Dae are lonely, which makes them easy targets. Hae-In and Hyeon-Woo’s love seems real, but Soo-Cheul and Man-Dae are being used, and that’s why their betrayals feel worse.
About betrayal, it’s really cool that Vincenzo Cassano shows up, which might be the first time characters from different Kdramas come together on Netflix. He’s helping Hae-In with her divorce, and his appearance is a nice surprise for fans. It makes us think “Queen of Tears” is part of the same world as the Vincenzo series, and we wonder if we’ll see more characters from other shows.
Even though the episodes seem to drag on, they really show us how people can be hurt deeply. It’s clear that seeing someone we care about suffer or being deeply hurt by someone else can really affect us. With the Queens family at their toughest spot, we’re now ready to see them try to get back to better times.
