The romance drama “The Story of Park’s Marriage Contract” featuring Lee Se Young and Bae In Hyuk has gained more viewers as it approaches its end.

The show returned on January 5 after a week-long break and dominated its time slot. Nielsen Korea reported that the second-to-last episode of “The Story of Park’s Marriage Contract”—which will conclude with its next episode—achieved an average rating of 8.0% nationwide.

This episode showed the heartbreaking separation of the main couple, Park Yeon-woo (Lee Se-young) and Kang Tae-ha (Bae In-hyuk), who had to part ways due to their fate across different periods. 

Park Yeon-woo, who came from the present day to the Joseon era, learned that she had to return to her original time for Kang Tae-ha to survive. She decided to spend her last moments with him, and they had a romantic date in Busan, where Kang Tae-ha grew up. They also shared their first night together, and Park Yeon-woo confessed her love to him before leaving.

However, when Park Yeon-woo returned to the Joseon era, she faced a tragic situation. She tried to prevent the death of Kang Tae-ha, who was poisoned by his enemy, but he collapsed on their wedding night. Park Yeon-woo cried out in despair, wondering why the same fate repeated.

Also, some of the other characters and events happened in the episode. Kang Tae-ha's grandfather, Kang Sang-mo (Cheon Ho-jin) was injured by Hwang Myeong-su (Lee Jun-hyuk), Tae-ha's rival. Min Hye-suk (Jin Kyung gave up her position as the head of SH Group and recommended Tae-ha as her successor. And Sa-wol (Joo Hyun-young) received a wedding dress from Park Yeon-woo as a gift.

My Demon Ep. 11

On the other hand, the rival show “My Demon” by SBS—which airs at the same time—resumed with an average rating of 3.7%.

The main events of the episode start with Gu Won's fashion show for Do Hee, where he dresses up in matching outfits with her. There is the awkwardness between Do Hee and Ms. Shin, who are secretly dating Bok Gyu. Do Hee and Gu Won follow Ms. Shin and discover her relationship with Bok Gyu, which they were not prepared for.

The villain Noh Suk Min knows that Do Hee and Gu Won escaped from the fire and that Gu Won regained his powers. Suk Min lays a complex trap for them, using his son Do Gyeong, who has mental health issues, to take the blame for the crimes he committed. Seok Hoon visits Suk Min's house and finds Gu Won's book there, which connects Suk Min to the demon.

I also need to mention Gu Won's character development, as he shows that he has changed after falling in love with Do Hee. He is no longer interested in making deals with humans, and he is nice to Seok Hoon, healing his hand as a gift. He also has dreams of his past life, where he was a human who loved a girl named Wolsim, who looks like Do Hee. He asks God about his dreams, and God tells him that his fate is intertwined with Wolsim, and that he probably forgot her because of some trauma.

Gu Won has another dream where he sees that he is the one who killed Wolsim in his past life. He also sees that Wolsim has Do Hee's face, and he wakes up shocked. There seem 2 challenges for the couple: to figure out that Suk Min is the real villain, and to figure out whether their past has any bearing on their future. These 2 challenges are going to clash with each other.
