Park Min-young’s 37kg weight loss for cancer role in "Marry My Husband"

 

The upcoming tvN drama Marry My Husband has revealed the first stills of Park Min Young, who changed her appearance drastically for her role. The drama is based on a popular web novel of the same name, about a woman who goes back in time 10 years after being killed by her cheating husband and his mistress and tries to change her fate.

Park Min Young plays Kang Ji Won, a woman who lives a miserable life with a useless husband, his rude family, and a stressful job. She always sacrifices herself for others, but she doesn't realize that she is being used by people who don't care about her. Her life reaches a tragic end when she finds out that her husband, Park Min Hwan (Lee Yi Kyung), is having an affair with her best friend, Jung So Min (Song Ha Yoon), and that she has cancer at a young age.

The released photos show Kang Ji Won in a hospital gown, wearing a cap, and looking exhausted as if her life has drained her of all energy.

Park Min Young made a great effort to portray the character's struggle with cancer realistically and lost 37 kg of weight for the role. The production team said, "Park Min Young did not hesitate to show the character's realistic appearance as a cancer patient. Everyone on the set was amazed by her dedication." They also said, "The drama will show the dramatic difference in Kang Ji Won's life before and after going back in time, so please look forward to it."

Marry My Husband, which will feature Park Min Young's stunning transformation, will air on January 1st, 2024.
