[Feb 4] “Doctor Slump” Ep 4, “Live Your Own Life” Ep 38 & 39: Ratings & Recap

The 4th episode of the romantic comedy “Doctor Slump” was the most popular ever, with a nationwide average rating of 6.7%, according to Nielsen Korea.

Park Hyung-Sik, Park Shin-Hye mistaken for lovers

Episode 4 of "Doctor Slump" continued from the last one. Yeo Jeong-Woo and Nam Ha-Neul enjoyed their time together as they watched the sunrise. Ha-Neul felt happy to have a friend from her past. She had no friends in school because she only studied. They went for breakfast, and Ha-Neul told him that she hadn't slept for a few nights. She was looking for a case that could help Jeong-Woo in his 2nd trial.

He thanked her for giving him the case and looked for a phone charger for her. He saw that she was sleeping to catch up on her lost sleep. He requested the restaurant owner to let her sleep for a few hours. The owner thought they were a couple and agreed to let Ha-Neul sleep. The two former enemies slept.

Ha-Neul’s mother was worried about her daughter. She thought Ha-Neul had gone to see the sunrise with her best friend, Hong-Ran. But Hong-Ran came to visit them and didn't know anything. They became more worried when they saw Ha-Neul and Jeong-Woo together. Hong-Ran assumed that Jeong-Woo was Ha-Neul’s first love. Jeong-Woo was shocked but also pleased.

But Ha-Neul told her family and Hong-Ran that they were only friends. Her mother asked Hong-Ran to arrange a date for her daughter. Jeong-Woo was confused by the situation and Ha-Neul asked him to go shopping with her. Jeong-Woo thought she wanted to be with her first love. He put on nice clothes and went shopping with her. But at the end of the day, Ha-Neul told him that she had a blind date.

Jeong-Woo was puzzled and slightly hurt. He went back home. The next day, he saw Ha-Neul wearing the clothes they bought for her date. But there was a twist. Hong-Ran had asked one of her nurses to find a good man for a date. The nurse thought it was for Hong-Ran and asked Dr. Bin Dae-Young. He said yes right away when he found out that Hong-Ran was the woman who followed his channel.

Ha-Neul and Dae-Young’s date was awkward. He kept calling her Hong-Ran. Ha-Neul realized that it was a misunderstanding and that he had a daughter. Ha-Neul’s aunts came to her house and met her mother. They had gone to Ha-Neul’s hospital and discovered that her colleagues had rejected her.

The aunts made fun of Ha-Neul in front of her mother and uncle. Ha-Neul’s mother made things worse by lying that her daughter was thinking of marriage and had dated a plastic surgeon. But Ha-Neul came home with a plastic surgeon. It was Jeong-Woo and not Dae-Young. The aunts thought they were dating. Ha-Neul explained the problem but the aunts still laughed at her.

Jeong-Woo dealt with the situation by making jokes about Ha-Neul’s aunts. They left after insulting her. Ha-Neul invited Jeong-Woo to drink with her at night. They were drunk and talked about their ruined careers. Jeong-Woo suggested Ha-Neul post her resume on the common website for doctor jobs.

Hyung-Sik and Shin-Hye face a mysterious enemy

It was a rainy day when Ha-Neul and Jeong-Woo walked together under one umbrella. Ha-Neul felt comfortable enough to doze off on his shoulder, but he didn’t want to overthink it. The scene then changed to show a secret camera hidden under his desk in his room.

The next day, Ha-Neul got a phone call from a hospital in Hwabon. She followed Jeong-Woo’s suggestion and posted her resume online. They wanted to interview her for the chief anesthesiologist position. She asked Jeong-Woo for his opinion, but he said she should do what she wanted. She confessed that she was eager to connect with other doctors.

She told her family that she was going to Hwabon. At the same time, Jeong-Woo was having brunch with his senior Kyung-Min. They discussed Ha-Neul’s recent testimony in court, and Kyung-Min revealed that he knew about her interview in Hwabon. He had met the clinic director and shared Ha-Neul’s background with him.

Jeong-Woo was upset that his senior didn’t mention how Ha-Neul was harassed by her senior. He decided to go after her. Meanwhile, Ha-Neul was on her way to the clinic in Hwabon, when they called her and canceled the interview. The chief doctor had learned about Ha-Neul’s history and thought she wasn't suitable.

Ha-Neul came back to the train station in Hwabon. She was emotional and called Jeong-Woo to say that she felt like she had wasted her life. As a train was coming, she was still on the phone when Jeong-Woo grabbed her hand. Ha-Neul was shocked and puzzled to see him there. Jeong-Woo told her he wanted to say that it wasn't her fault and that she had done nothing wrong.

The episode concluded with them looking at each other with feelings and Kyung-Min holding the hidden camera pen. Clearly, he was the bad guy in their story.

“Live Your Own Life” episode 38 & 39 ratings & recap

[Feb 4] “Doctor Slump” Ep 4, “Live Your Own Life” Ep 38 & 39: Ratings & Recap
“Live Your Own Life” remained the most-watched program on Sunday, scoring an average of 20.6% nationwide on episode 38. The 39th episode broke its own record, with a nationwide average rating of 22.1%.

Mi-rim, not Hyo-joon, is the lawyer that the Lee family has been dreaming of. After spending a night with Hyo-joon at a motel, she is expecting his child and moving in with his parents. She also takes a break from her job as a criminal lawyer to help Hyo-joon prepare for his law exams. Poor Mi-rim, what a mess the writer has made of her life.

Hyo-shim’s mom is in despair, but her only option is to summon the whole family for their missing dad’s memorial service - which she always uses as a reason to make a scene. Mi-rim, as a new addition to the family, proposes to use her connections with the police to track down the missing dad. And Hyo-shim’s mom has to decide whether to accept her offer or not.

Tae-min is glad to see Halmeoni, but he still insists that his parents aren't guilty - at least not of killing Tae-ho’s parents. Tae-ho gets out on bail, and he declares that he will take Chairman Kang and Sook-hyang to court for stealing money and other crimes. He also demands a new investigation into his parents’ death.

Tae-min fires his mom from all her roles at work and reveals that he's aware that Halmeoni is alive. Sook-hyang is left alone, and she vents her anger on Mr. Yeom - who then informs Tae-min that everything started with Halmeoni.

Halmeoni goes to the shoeshine shop to face Chairman Kang, but he denies that he murdered Tae-ho’s parents - even when Halmeoni claims she has proof (a video from the dashcam of Tae-ho’s parents’ car). Halmeoni hid the investigation back then to save Chairman Kang, but she can’t stand by and watch her grandsons fight over the case.

So she orders her son to surrender or she will go to the cops herself. Chairman Kang faints and Tae-min begs Halmeoni to save his father. Halmeoni then discloses that Tae-min and Tae-ho are blood brothers, and the show’s makjang level reaches a new peak.
