“Doctor Slump” episodes 13 & 14: Recap, review
Episode 13
What happened after the accident?
After the car accident, Ha-neul is alive but hurt, with broken ribs and a damaged lung. She quickly gets surgery and recovers. This scary event affects everyone, including her brother Ba-da, who feels bad for not helping the family more.
Jeong-woo finds out Ha-neul was in the car with Kyung-min and sees an old note she wrote to him. Meanwhile, Jeong-woo learns that Kyung-min has been causing trouble all along. Ha-neul admits she would risk herself again for Jeong-woo, and they make up after arguing.
Why is Kyung-min so angry?
We learn that Kyung-min used to be a good person. A look back shows he liked Jeong-woo and wanted to do well in school. But things changed when his father, who drank a lot, died because Kyung-min couldn’t help him one night. This makes Kyung-min hold a grudge against Jeong-woo and his mother.
How does episode 13 end?
Kyung-min, knowing he’s about to die, wants to talk to Jeong-woo. He says he didn’t know a clinic involved in a murder was Jeong-woo’s. Jeong-woo can’t forgive him, but it’s still sad when Kyung-min passes away. Jeong-woo is seen mourning over a suit he got for Kyung-min. Now that the main bad guy is gone, we wonder what will happen next in "Doctor Slump."
Episode 14
After getting better from her injuries, Ha-neul can now go back to her old job as a professor, which is great for her reputation. For Jeong-woo, it’s a bit more tricky. We remember seeing in the past how close he and Kyung-min used to be. Jeong-woo learns that Kyung-min didn’t want to involve Jeong-woo’s clinic once he knew it belonged to him. But this doesn’t make up for the bad things Kyung-min did, and Jeong-woo is still dealing with the consequences.
Trip to Busan
Jeong-woo’s parents are coming to Seoul soon, but he doesn’t want to see his mom because she’s very harsh about Kyung-min. So, he decides to go with Ha-neul’s happier family to Busan.
The trip has its ups and downs for Jeong-woo, including some funny accidents that make everyone laugh. But he feels like he’s intruding when he learns the trip is to honor Ha-neul’s dad.
As Hong-ran and Dae-yeoung grow closer, Jeong-woo starts thinking more deeply and shares with Ha-neul’s mom that he’s still sad about Kyung-min. Kyung-min was there for him during tough times, unlike his own parents. Ha-neul, who’s also thinking a lot, tells him that the sadness will pass and he’ll remember Kyung-min in a better way, just like she remembers her late husband.
Ha-neul returns to work
Ha-neul thinks about going back to work at the hospital as a professor. She’s finally getting the respect she deserves, even though many people lost their jobs because of what Kyung-min did. But they were part of the problem, so it’s good that Ha-neul is back to doing what she loves.
There’s a new challenge, though. With Ha-neul working all the time, she can’t spend much time with Jeong-woo. But Jeong-woo has a plan to fix this, thanks to some money he got from a settlement.
How does episode 14 end?
Jeong-woo uses his company to support free surgeries for people in need at Ha-neul’s hospital, and they work on this together. They enjoy working and being together, aiming for the same goal.
In the end, Ha-neul is unsure about working so closely with Jeong-woo, but then he surprises her with a ring, which the show had hinted at before.
Review
I feel upset and sympathize with Kyung-min. He used to be good, but his choices decided his fate.
The Jeong-Ha couple is shining again, and the Hong-Dae couple keeps their relationship lively and fun. Wol-seon and Tae-seon are giving the kind of support everyone looks for, and they’re making many people feel better with their thoughtful actions.
"Doctor Slump" is becoming more enjoyable with fewer problems and sad moments, and just the right mix of happy moments and laughs. But with 2 more episodes left, we can’t help but worry that things might take a turn for the worse. Especially now that Jeong-woo’s parents have shown up and made us quite upset.
