“Flex x Cop” episode 11: Recap & review
Unraveling the past: The quest for truth
Kang-hyun receives a phone call about a body found near the river. She discovers a young man named Dongsu, dead, with a symbol on him. We see a memory of Kang-hyun’s dad, Hyung-jun, who was investigating a group he suspected was a harmful cult. He was wrongly accused of taking bribes and arrested while trying to reveal the truth. Kang-hyun has been determined to clear her father’s name ever since.
Currently, she tells Joon-young about Dongsu’s connection to the GY group. At the same time, another team finds Seong-wook’s body. He had planned to share important information with Kang-hyun but was killed. The team leader notices Seong-wook called Kang-hyun last and asks her to visit the police station. There, she’s shocked to learn of his death. The chief mentions Seong-wook’s name unexpectedly, making Kang-hyun suspicious, and she confronts him. This leads to her being suspended.
A dangerous investigation: Undercover at the GY center
Kang-hyun decides to take a break at a temple. Meanwhile, I-soo uncovers details about the Oryun group and its ties to her father. They find out Dongsu was drowned, but not in the river. I-soo meets the group’s leader, Bori, who is unexpectedly young and charming. Kang-hyun, undercover at the GY center, tries to uncover their secrets. I-soo talks to Woo-hyuk, Bori himself, who shares a story of his past lives. I-soo is skeptical, especially when Woo-hyuk mentions I-soo’s late mother.
That evening, after a small event, everyone is given a drink. Kang-hyun fakes drinking and saves some to test later, discovering it’s a sleeping potion. Talking to her roommate, she hears about her difficult life and hopes for a better next life. After everyone is asleep, Kang-hyun sneaks into Woo-hyuk’s cabin for clues. A caretaker notices Kang-hyun’s absence. Inside Woo-hyuk’s cabin, Kang-hyun is ready for danger but finds I-soo instead. They argue but agree to work together. They hear someone coming as the episode ends.
Review
Cults are both fascinating and scary. Why do people push others to follow a religious group for no reason? Why do some risk their lives for these beliefs? It’s troubling that this isn’t just fiction but happens in reality too.
As I-soo and Kang-hyun uncover more, it’s clear they’re not just trying to save her father but also exposing a darker side of humanity. The next episode promises to reveal more important lessons.
